Code of Conduct for Players:
As a Player of Select Football Club, I agree to:
• Play by the rules.
• Never argue with a referee or assistant referee.
• If we don’t have a referee or an assistant referee. I will be my own referee and I will be honest.
• Control my temper and maintain control over my emotions. I will avoid bad/negative
comments and/or gestures, and I know that purposely distracting or annoying an
opponent is not allowed behavior in soccer.
• Work equally hard for myself and my team. My team's performance will benefit so will I.
• Be a good sport; applaud all good plays whether they are made by my team or the
opposition.
• Treat all participants in soccer as I like to be treated. I will not bully or take unfair
advantage of another competitor.
• Cooperate with your teammates and opponents. Without them there would be
no game.
• Participate for my own enjoyment and benefit.
• Respect the rights, dignity and worth of all participants regardless of the their gender,
ability, cultural background or religion.
• Believe that all players are attempting to do their best.
• Understand that my attitude can influence other players and spectators.
• Applaud good performance and efforts from all individuals and teams. Congratulate
all participants on their performance regardless of the game's outcome.
• Never ridicule or scold a player for making a mistake. Positive comments are
motivational.
• Encourage players to follow the rules.
• Remember that players participate for pleasure and winning is only part of the fun.
• Never ridicule or yell at teammates or other players for making a mistake or not winning.
• Be reasonable in my demands on players' time, energy and enthusiasm.
• Operate within the rules and spirit of the game and teach by example and have other players do the same.
• Endeavor to be a good instructor and a positive role model for teammates and other players.
• Remember my behavior brings credit to myself, the Select Football Club Organization and the sport of soccer.
• Play for the fun of soccer!
1) A Yellow Card shall represent a formal "caution" to the player and will be given in the event any of the below offenses are committed:
• Negative comments made and negative attitudes
• Unwanted coaching and/or instructions to teammates
• Dissent by word or actions
• Persistently breaking the football rules
Penalty for Yellow Card:
A player who receives his 1st Yellow Card: Must sit out for 15 Minutes
A player who receives 2 Yellow Cards in one game is given a Red Card & ejected from the current game and shall not be allowed to play for 1 week.
2) Red Card - A player will be shown a Red Card and "sent off" (i.e., made to leave the field) for the offenses listed below and shall not be allowed to play for 1 week:
• Violent conduct
• Using offensive or threatening language
• Using any type of foul language toward teammates, opponents, referee, spectators
• Using any type of retaliation
• Serious foul play (includes any use of excessive force or brutality against an opponent when challenging for the ball). Examples include a dangerous slide tackle from behind, or an "over the top tackle" in which a player raises his foot so the cleats could hit a player, or a two footed tackle that takes down the opponent.
• Any player whom commits an intentional foul resulting in an injury will not be allowed to play until the injured player is fully recovered.
• Receiving a second yellow card in one game.
• A player whom accumulates 2 Red Cards shall be automatically ejected from the Select Football club for one season. If season is less than 5 games, it will carry over to following season.
• A player whom accumulates 3 Red Cards shall be automatically ejected from the Select Football club permanently
